0, 13 µm processors 2001
TSMC has successfully launched successfully in 0, 13 µm manufacturing process. It is now expected that massively production of processors will be used for this end of 2001.
Most recently, the TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor manufactoring company) chips to customer Altera has delivered the first 0, 15 µm. Now comes the news that it has successfully started the 0, 13 µm process. This all metal layers consist of copper and not like in the competition, where only the top layers of copper. Until the 3rd quarter 2001 we want then the process so far, that he is ready for the mass market. Thus, then again much faster CPUs would be possible that consume far less power and therefore require less cooling.
