A man, a floppy disk, an operating system
The Finn Ville Mikael Turjanmaa has created a 32-bit real-time OS in Assembly language with some of his colleagues, which does not exceed the size of 1.44 MB disks. The OS the name MenuetOS and is, thanks to general public license (GPL), for free download.
The minimum requirements are very low. It is running on a 80386 with 32 MB RAM and a mouse (on the PS / 2 or COM port).
Thanks to 16.7 million colours at 1280 * 1024 pixels, also the graphical user interface is available to other desktop system in nothing. In addition, the OS multi-tasking, multi-threading, networking (tcp/udp/icmp/ip), a http server, mp3 support offers (44.1 KHz stereo) and other features. A 32-bit assembler and an ASCII editor are available to program.
For the future, as well as Linus Torvald Finland-born developer plans a x 86-64 bit port, as well as more network support and a larger file and hardware support.
