In addition to the desktop boards with the name of Radeon, ATi has other series in the own portfolio that target other markets. There are for example even the professional “FirePro” series, which is used in the professional render market. And this gets young now.

ATi categorises the own FirePro cards into four different segments: entry, mid range, high-end and ultra high-end, whereby the latter will be increased now. FirePro V8750, which is the new flagship is the name of the new company. This is based on the RV770 – or RV790 architecture and comes along with the maximum 160 5D-Shadereinheiten. A 256-bit wide memory interface data between the individual components, travel at a speed of 115 GB/s suggesting to a 1800 MHz memory clock.

Accordingly it is on the FirePro V8750 GDDR5 memory, which is 2,048 MB in size on the map. The FirePro V8700 is armed only with 1,024 MB. The power consumption is 154 Watts maximum. As possible connections, the FirePro V8750 offers a stereo Sync output as well as a DVI and two displayport connector. The latter can a precision of 10 bits per color channel output. The recommended retail price is at just under $ 1,800.

According to own benchmarks, the FirePro V8750 to beat the direct competition from NVIDIA, Quadro FX 4800. This statement is to enjoy but as usual with caution. Also new is a card called “S400″. This provides a “Framelock” and a “Genlock” and is to charge to synchronize the image of multiple graphics cards. So the FirePro S400 can synchronize up to four GPUs per PC and 30 or more computers with each other. There is a special connection for the latter. The firmware is this upgrade able to adapt the S400 to the own needs. From the third quarter, there will be the card for a price of $ 800.
