So far two ATi graphics cards are known, which are sold only in Asia and are not to Europe: the Radeon HD 3690, as well as the Radeon HD 3830. Both are stripped down Radeon-HD-3850-modes, which provide in particular a very good value for money.

The two run based on a fully enabled RV670 GPU and differ in some restrictions of the Radeon HD 3850. Thus ATi conclude 3650 the rather large performance gap between the Radeon HD 3850 and the Radeon HD. It seems now, however, comes the Radeon HD 3830 in European trade and thus also to Germany. The accelerator added the RV670 chip 668 MHz and is on the same level as the Radeon HD 3850.

The real difference concerns the memory and the link to the GPU. We will not see 3830 probably more than a 256 megabyte GDDR3 memory on the Radeon HD. The memory interface was reduced in addition to 128-bit. By this limitation, you would one but produce noticeable difference to the larger Radeon HD 3850. The memory clock on the run should be at least 800 MHz, where it is left to the Boardpartnern, increase the frequency. Thus, 3850 available would be the Radeon HD 3830 in about half the memory bandwidth of a Radeon HD.

First copies should be available in the next few weeks in the trade. An exact price is still unknown, and this should be between 50 euros (best Radeon HD 3650) and 100 euros (best Radeon HD 3850).
