Brakes from Intel NVIDIA’s ion platform?
With the launch of the new “ion” platform for Intel’s Atom Processor NVIDIA has caused a few days ago plenty vertebra in the highly competitive Nettop market. How the colleagues of DIGITIMES could now bring in experience, the step in Intel encounters any skepticism.
So Intel’s can be purchase Atom processor for Nettop applications currently only in conjunction with an appropriate Intel chipset (i945GC or i945GSE). A combination with a nVidia chipset is so although not excluded, but such an undertaking would be an unnecessary cost if a later non-utilised chipset is acquired to each acquired Atom processor. Also there are currently no plans to validate NVIDIA’s MCP79 and fernbedienung chipsets with an atom processor according to Intel, or to cooperate in order to support the new ion platform even in another form with NVIDIA on this point.
Apparently there is probably a little fear that NVIDIA’s MCP79 could expire the rank the hotel’s own chipsets in some places due to the significantly more modern platform at Intel. With Apple, NVIDIA has taken a very prominent fish ashore in circumstances. Other sources speak are however already by a denial on the part of Intel that the atom both individually and in the bundle available processor and therefore nothing in the way is an implementation of NVIDIA’s Atom chipset. NVIDIA itself wanted to comment so far no on the events.
