Microsoft & Intel limit to 10 Netbooks “
In the recent past, several manufacturers extended the range of Netbooks and announced the 12-inch models. According to a report of DIGITIMES industry service it should be but soon again over this.
Taiwanese notebook producers should therefore have announced that Microsoft with Intel has agreed on it, to reduce the limit from 12.1 inches to 10.2 inch Netbooks with Microsoft’s next operating system Windows 7 and Intel’s Atom processors. Appropriate models such as the Acer and Lenovo are likely to disappear so following the launch of Windows 7 from the scene. Suffering is this measure according to the sources VIA.
From VIA the great of the respective models are set no restrictions on where CPUs and chipsets of the company are used. However the NetBook manufacturers in the area shall disclose no longer than 10.2 inch on Windows 7 what will hold most of them probably to develop models in this class. This affects however particularly negative for VIA because it has Intel in this area a stronger position compared with the large competitors, clearly dominated the market in the 10-inch range with the atom processors.
