Microsoft sold “Cheap-Windows” in Asia
The software giant Microsoft sells a slimmed-down versions of Windows XP in the Asian region – this emerges from current information of Inquirers. So that is would confirm earlier reports that speak of a cheap version of Windows.
As we reported already in early February, Microsoft moved the introduction of a “Starter Edition” its current operating system Windows XP for the Asian region into account. Thailand, that should be supplied with the trimmed-down version was explicitly mentioned in this context. Microsoft tries above all to the favourable competition, the Linuxfraktion, to counteract because poorer countries might otherwise switch to these alternatives.
Now, it seems certain that Microsoft has sold Starter Editions of Windows XP over the Thai space addition to Asian Governments. That these are in detail, is currently not known to us. Currently as well, it is not known how much the Windows versions have been slimmed down and whether Microsoft not soon were under pressure, to offer the cheapest versions in Europe and North America.
