With the “X 3 touch and type” Nokia today unveiled a new mobile phone of the S40 series, which has the special feature, to have both touch screen and a numeric keypad. Also, the facilities compared to the sister model of X 3 has been improved.

With the device, the advantages of both operating concepts are to be connected – as it shows, for example, the Sony Ericsson P1 from 2007. However, even Nokia screen as well as the resistive display had to make some compromises, so is the screen, resolution 240 × 320 pixels, with 2.4 “diagonal not very large compared to normal touchscreen phones. The numeric keypad Nokia has changed the usual structure consisting of four rows and three columns, the well-known fourth number is 3 touch and type as the fourth column at the X used. The keypad is complemented by four function keys.

The camera of the X 3 touch and type five megapixel resolves. Data connections are n standard WLAN and UMTS with HSDPA available – GPS has been omitted.

To obtain more applications, in addition to through the Ovi store, Nokia’s mail and messaging programs are already installed, to social networks like Facebook and Twitter apps are already pre-installed.

The 78 grams heavy X 3 touch and type, with a surface made of brushed aluminium, will come around the end of September for 169 euro in trade, here are five colors to choose.
