There is already no longer a secret, that the Japanese conglomerate Hitachi wants to sell its HDD business. Explains how a report appears now to be planned a merger with the same segments of the companies Toshiba and Fujitsu to a new company.

Each of the three groups would have one-third of the new company. The step is apparently currently being negotiated and could be used to bypass the first intended sale to financial investors.
