Report: Big merger in the disks store?
There is already no longer a secret, that the Japanese conglomerate Hitachi wants to sell its HDD business. Explains how a report appears now to be planned a merger with the same segments of the companies Toshiba and Fujitsu to a new company.
Each of the three groups would have one-third of the new company. The step is apparently currently being negotiated and could be used to bypass the first intended sale to financial investors. Background here is that the talks with the potential interested parties from the world of finance were not so as you imagined it at Hitachi.
The spot is so primarily on Hitachi. The pressure is further strengthened by the State of the Division. While Hitachi has reduced jobs in the disk area at all levels, it lost also further on ground over the large players such as Seagate and Western Digital. The market viability of the business has suffered least so increasingly.
So far no person responsible for this new, not confirmed rumor said. US media assume that this could be done at the earliest on 1 April. Then, the new financial year begins in Japan.
