Windows XP SP 2 is no longer blocked
Since yesterday, the grace period has expired, in which a tool by Microsoft has prevented that the available since August 2004 Service Pack 2 for Windows XP is automatically loaded with Microsoft’s update service down.
The tool was the unwieldy name “temporarily disabling delivery of Windows XP Service Pack 2 through Windows Update and automatic updates” baptized and was intended for companies, because it came after the release of Service Pack compatibility issues with several programs. So, companies should have time to adapt to the Service Pack 2 and already from the start to be able to exclude any kind of problems.
In addition, many companies worldwide have a two-channel ISDN line in such other areas of the group, which itself would have certainly laid the cards during concurrent update of many clients of 250 megabytes large downloads.
Only the Service Pack 2 has been blocked by the tool, all other updates continue to easily downloaded via the automatic update feature of Windows.
The tool was temporarily limited from the outset, but was extended in the period as a result of pressure from companies from 120 to 240 days. If you would like to waive the installation of Service Pack 2 yet, must waive willy-nilly the automatic update feature.
